Medi-Cal No Longer Requires Prior Authorization for Buprenorphine
In an important change that began on June 1, Med-Cal no longer requires a Treatment Authorization Request (TAR) for most buprenorphine products. This will make it much easier for patients to get prescriptions filled in a timely manner. All that is required is a DEA waiver, a diagnosis of opioid addiction (304.00, ICD 9). There is a maximum of 120 units and a 30-day supply.
